Excellence, Prestige, Commitment… These are just a few choice words to describe this event and the athletes who were commended for all their hard work throughout 2015/2016!

The GKF Awards Dinner is the most prestigious event on the GKF calendar and was held at the Gold Reef City movie theatre on the 5th November 2016. This event is an opportunity to award students who were selected to represent the GKF team at the National trials held in Johannesburg, Gauteng and those who represented South Africa abroad.

Fourways Martial Arts Academy had 14 of our students awarded at the GKF Awards. They did a superb job at bringing back well over 25 trophies for not only achieving Gauteng colours and a medal position at the KSA Nationals earlier this year, but also for representing South Africa abroad at the various WKF events namely:
• Zone 6 Championships (Zimbabwe) • WKF Training Camp & Youth Cup (Croatia) • UFAK African Games (Congo) • 7th Commonwealth Championships, (India)

Congratulations to the students that were awarded:

1) Angela Tsita
2) Zoë Duffield
3) Claudia Dobson
4) Nicholas Dobson
5) Reece Baynes
6) Justin Baynes
7) Emma Wentzel
8) Cheyenne Barros
9) Aimee Grefen
10) Khardan Ruocchio
11) Alessandro Biagioni
12) Silvio Biagioni
13) Stef Biagioni
14) Jacqui Baynes

Lastly, a special congratulations for two of 4Ways students, i.e. Justin Baynes and Alessandro Biagioni. Justin was awarded the overall best Cadet athlete 14-17 years and Alessandro was awarded the overall best Child Athlete 8-13 years for 2015/2016. Both Justin and Alessandro are also ranked number one in Kumite, Kata and Team Kata for 2015/2016 in their divisions.

This is an incredible achievement considering that Gauteng is the strongest province in the country and all the above accolades come from one dojo which is arguably the best Dojo in the country, which is Fourways Martial Arts Academy!

A huge congratulations must go to Sensei Stef who not only was awarded for his sterling job at coming 1st place at the KSA Nationals for both the Team Kata & Veteran Divisions, but for his consistency throughout the year 2015/2016 at achieving a medal position at ALL events that he attended. His back to back WKF World championship in 2014 and 2016, African Games, Zone 6 to mention a few. He was also awarded for his dedication as chairman of Ekurhuleni to ensure that the Ekurhuleni Region is always on top form and running smoothly.

Last but not least, Jacqui Baynes was awarded the best team manager for the year and was awarded for her dedication to the success of Gauteng province.
